BYOT/BYOD Implementation Plan for 6th Grade Math.

Example BYOT Policy

While I could not find a specific plan for my district. I did find one at this link
https://www.forsyth.k12.ga.us/byot I feel as though they would be compatible with each other.

Platform
Since our school is a Google School, Chromebooks will benefit our students most as all Google
Apps and Products will integrate smoothly into this interface.

Students who do not have their own devices

While students are welcome to use their own devices, it is not a requirement. All students who
elect not to use the BYOT program will be issued a Chromebook at no charge. However, these
students and their parents must sign a contract making them responsible for any damages the
device may incur during normal or abnormal use.

Grouping of Students
Students may be grouped in many different ways for learning purposes. The following are some
examples:

Individually:
Students use their own devices to complete tasks in Google Apps on their own Chromebook or a
school-issued device.
Partners:
Students who have their own devices are paired with students who do not, the students then
complete various tasks using Google Apps on the chromebook.
Large Groups:
2-3 Students in the group have the technology and are paired with 3-4 students who do not.
These large groups work on large-scale projects to create multimedia presentations and other
resources using Google Apps.

Apps for 6th Grade Math

1. Symbaloo allows students to organize websites and have them all in one place. This app
is very beneficial in having things all in one place for students to use.
2. Youtube is a great app, not only for showing students material. But to also showcase
students’ material that they create. Many students are obsessed with influencers and what
better way to help them connect than to allow them to share their work through video.
3. Google Apps/Suite includes docs, forms, slides, and sheets. These are the main four apps
that students will use for various tasks that are individual or collaborative.
4. Google Keep is a great app for keeping students organized. It is a lot like sticky notes for
your computer that you can share with others and they are always in a handy place.
5. Google Calander is pivotal for student and teacher success. This can be used in so many
ways but the main way I see is to schedule important dates and reminders for teachers
and students.
6. Prodigy is an awesome app for math. It helps students practice the basics of math in a fun
way. It allows for collaboration between students, or individual practice.
