Good Morning everyone, I am pleased to Welcome you all, my dearest student, to our eminent

speakers for today’s virtual symposium Mrs. Anabelle C. Salud and Mrs. Jasmine Quimio, who will share
their knowledge and vast experience in dealing different kind of medias, to our beloved Principal Mrs.
Maricel R. Deade and to those who will be watching on to this morning symposium, again Good Morning
everyone. Again, I am Mrs. Marry Grace A. Redondo, Teacher of Grade 12 students in Media and
information Literacy. We are all privileged to be joining here today to host this kind of event,
“Accompanying and Empowering the Youth to Use the Evolving Media in a Substantial Way”.

We all know that today, those days were gone where everything that requires manual labor in getting
information were all vanished and everything is literally one click away now.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, just to name a few, are some of the most popular social media platforms
that we use on a daily basis to channel our daily activities. Social media has indeed colonized our daily
lives in so many possible ways. We just started out as simple outlet of sharing pictures and videos online
and have become a vicious tool of spreading misleading information, malicious hearsays, sexually
provocative videos and of course cyber bullying that accounted for numerous damaged reputations of
different people and even brands. The over flooding of false information and disinformation has roots to
different consequences such distrusting media, platforms may compromise user’s security, false
connection, and many more. Suddenly, everyone is vulnerable. We became our own perpetrators and
victims without consciously realizing it.

The gravity of words that we share online can either bring us popularity and approval or plague us with
hatred and bashers. Responsible use of social media has unfortunately gone astray. It’s a stigma that we
need to halt that’s why we’re gather here today to discuss and have an awareness, knowledge and be
literate more in this evolving media that are presents today.

Those are just few reasons we were eager to bring together our wonderful speakers for this morning
event – who will share their insights and prompt us to reflect context and solutions to the challenges of
this evolving media that spreads misinformation, disinformation and malinformation and hope that such
knowledge will help us edge to be more literate and have a peaceful and democratic society with this
existing media today.

We hope that this event would help students and for all to expand their mental horizon and help
themselves to profound their knowledge in the use of this evolving media.

Again, may I request to all students to make use this event to the best of their abilities. Thank you
everyone and God Bless.
