1. Ms. Tara, a 26-year-old apparently healthy college girl had repeated vomiting for last 24
hours leading to considerable amount of fluid loss. She was brought to Emergency. She was
assessed and found her markedly dehydrated. Whatever she was taking by mouth was
immediately vomited out. Her extremities were cold, radial pulse was feeble, and she had
marked hypotension indicating reduced intravascular fluid volume.
a. What would be the most appropriate fluid to treat the underlying condition? 2
b. What would be the effect of above condition on osmolality of blood? Write its normal
