personalities. He was a brilliant scholar and political leader,
most remembered for his political writings, which spurred
the Philippine revolution also eventually resulted in his death
by the Spaniards.

reminiscence Independence Day

Rizal died on December 30, 1896,
early age of 35, but far more of him
lives on in the hearts of Filipinos than
his bones at Rizal Park. He sparked
the independence movement by
serving as a mirror for the diseased
colonial society into which Filipinos
had descended as a consequence of
Spanish colonialism.
The Philippine Revolution lasted until 1898
after his death. And on June 12, 1898, the
Philippines proclaimed independence
from Spain with the support of the
United States. The Philippine flag
was raised at General Emilio Aguinaldo
house in Kawit, Cavite.

Rizal Bill REPUBLIC ACT 1425

The Rizal Law, passed in 1956 and has the following objectives:

To recommit youth to the ideas of liberty and nationalism which

our hero lived and died

To honor our national hero for dedicating his life and energy to
establishing the Filipino character

To develop a sense of patriotism through studying Rizal's

biography, works, and writings.

Uniqueness
He became National Hero because he fought for the
country which is the Philippines and it makes him
unique by fighting a war through writings which is a
silent battle. Unlike other heroes who fought in a
force of aggression.
