Food Security: The long term effects of incompetence

(Word count: 191)

Food security is accomplished when everyone has regular physical, social, and

economic access to sufficient, safe, and nutritional food to support their dietary

deficiencies and food preferences for a healthy and active life (Food and Agriculture

Organization, 2017). In the recent census (20121), the Philippines' population grew to

110.8 million; this has negatively affected the country's food security.

We are facing climate change faster with the abnormal consumption and mass

production of food. "You can only imagine the difficulty in sustaining more people given

the Philippines' limited land area, especially as our island nation faces dangers from

more powerful tropical storms, dramatic changes in rainfall patterns, sea-level rise, and

rising temperatures. Our country strives to be climate-resilient and climate-smart in this

line to be food secure and develop sustainably," Ambassador Cuisia stated.

The importance of food security in politics and governance is to enhance their

responsiveness to the citizens and gain stability in our economy. The role of our

government in food security is the capability to ensure, over time, that the system

supplies a timely, reliable, and nutritionally appropriate supply of food to the entire

growing population of our country.
