Our physical and mental health is fundamentally linked in order to achieve a

healthy and progressive life. One cannot function at his best if he is physically and
mentally incapable of accomplishing his tasks.

Physical health is considered as a human capital, since we can gain both

consumption and production benefits. Being healthy means we could enjoy our time
with our family, while staying productive in our school or professional works. In
order to achieve a healthy and well-balanced life, one must not only focus on his
career or activities, but must also observe proper diet and regular exercise. We
cannot perform well if our body is unable to cope up with various activities that
require physical strength and endurance.

On the other hand, our mental health is non-negotiable. It plays a vital role in
order to think of exemplary ideas that we can incorporate to our desired outputs. A
person who is mentally healthy has a positive disposition in life that will help him be
at his best and persevered to accomplish his goals. Unhealthy state of mind only
deprives us to appreciate and enjoy life to the fullest. Nurturing our mental health
can also help us combat or prevent the mental health problems that are sometimes
associated with a chronic physical illness. 1

In sum, we should always take good care of ourselves and consider the
people who influence us, our food intake, the condition of our environment, and
reflect of how we can survive our daily activities without compromising our
physical and mental health.

Taking care of physical and mental health especially during this pandemic is
an unselfish gift we could give to ourselves.
