Document Development Exposition: Workplace Correspondence

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
For this assignment I wanted to go deeper into how I touched on climate change and the
environment in my white paper assignment. I wanted to pick a big corporation that could have a big
platform, so I chose Walmart.

First Draft (for peer editing)

I made sure that I acknowledged that Walmart does have a climate change plan to help the cause. I
wanted to make sure I gave them a good thing to hold onto before I gave them the negative news. I
told them the problem of how we need to do more if we want to help our world. I tied in storms and
hurricanes and how they get worse as climate change advances. Then, I gave the company solutions
to this problem. I gave them suggestions of what their employees and executives can do in their
everyday lives and what the company can do themselves as a whole.

Second Draft (for your packet)

After my peer review, I added some additions to the header of my memo as instructed by my peer. I
did not have any other recommendations, so I just proofread.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

For my final draft I added a to, from, and subject line to my email as I did with my memo. Next, I
broke up my email into paragraphs and added some more acknowledgment of how they have helped
the cause before going into the problem. I reread and made sure that I posed the writing in a way
that it was a collective problem. Finally, for my email, I added another statement at the bottom
thanking them for their work. For my memo, I added that I was reaching out to Walmart so they
could further their cause for climate change. I also added some recommendations and made them
more specific by giving examples of what they can do.
