Introduction and General Information

This document talks about a true story, where it is sought to use the topic of the week

(second conditional) and other topics seen in the matter. That is why you will find the writing

with its part in English and Spanish and a link that will direct you to a graphic and auditory

presentation of said story.

CHAPTER 2

Activity

THE CLEAREST NIGHT

This story is based on real events. All this history is told around the 1900s and

perhaps to the present, but even so, the possibility of it happening in the future is not ruled

out. Cachipay Cundinamarca is two hours from Bogotá, among its neighboring towns is

Anolaima, La Mesa and Quipile; the latter has been well known for being an area for many

years of encampment and wars by the Colombian guerrillas. But it is not from this area that

we are going to talk, but from where the author of this writing is from, that is how we are

located in a village called La Uchuta in the municipality of Cachipay.

In this village the environment is very calm at present, its climate is beautiful, the

high mountains full of vegetation are beautiful, contemplating how the sun goes down the

banks of these mountains is something spectacular; however, in those thick mountains of

vegetation paramilitary groups circulated in times past, and it is still said that they continue

to be routes of said groups. That is why, in the past, people lived with a certain fear that at

any moment wars could break out in this village, and more so since it is so close to a red

zone, as the territories where the paramilitary groups terrorized the most are known

(Quipile-Cundinamarca).

The elders of the village say that on a night where everything seemed normal, a

quiet night, but with a disturbing silence, out of nowhere everything became as clear as if it

were day; amazed, and at the same time scared by such an event, they left their houses to

contemplate what had happened, that is how when they looked at the sky they saw

warplanes sending flares that lit up in such a way that the night seemed like day and the

moon was confused like the sun. The inhabitants, seeing this, ran to take refuge in their

homes, fearing that at any moment a fight would break out. Despite this unexpected

sighting of said planes, nothing happened. It is said that it was to visualize the route of said

paramilitary groups, and to know where they were going; Others assure that I did not

unleash any fights in the area to protect the population of the region.

To this day, it is not known what happened that night, because, although nothing

happened in the territory of that village, that night shots were heard in the distance and it

went from being the night with the darkest silence, to the night in where crickets were not

heard as usual but only shots in the distance.

It is said that, if suddenly these paramilitary groups continue to circulate, their

routes remain the same, among them the one that passes through the path that we have

mentioned. It is so much so that there is talk that today they have been seen passing by, but

the community does not talk about it for fear that fear like that night will be unleashed

again.

LA NOCHE MAS CLARA

Esta historia es basada en acontecimientos reales. Toda esta historia se relata hacia

los años 1900 y quizás hasta la actualidad, pero aun así no se descarta la posibilidad que

pase en un futuro. Cachipay Cundinamarca queda a dos horas de Bogotá, entre sus pueblos

vecinos esta Anolaima, La Mesa y Quipile; este último ha sido muy conocido por ser zona

durante muchos años de acampamiento y de guerras por parte de la guerrilla colombiana.

Pero no es de esta zona que vamos a hablar, si no de donde es originario el autor de este

escrito, es así como nos ubicamos en una Vereda llamada La Uchuta del municipio de

Cachipay.

En esta vereda el ambiente es muy tranquilo en la actualidad, su clima es precioso,

las altas montañas llenas de vegetación son hermosas, contemplar como el sol se pierde

bajando por las orillas de dichas montañas es algo espectacular; sin embargo, en esas

montañas espesas de vegetación circulaban grupos paramilitares en tiempos pasados, y aun

se dice que siguen siendo rutas de dichos grupos. Es por ello por lo que antiguamente se

vivía con cierto temor de que en cualquier momento se desataran guerras en esta vereda y

más al estar tan cerca de una zona roja como es conocido los territorios en dónde los grupos

paramilitares más aterrorizaban (Quipile-Cundinamarca).

Cuentan los ancianos de la vereda, que en una noche donde todo parecía normal,

una noche tranquila, pero con un silencio inquietante, de la nada todo quedo tan claro como

si fuera de día; asombrados, y a la vez asustados por tal acontecimiento, salieron de sus

casas para contemplar lo que había pasado, es así como al mirar al firmamento vieron

aviones de guerra enviando bengalas que alumbraban de tal manera que la noche parecía de

día y la luna se confundía como el sol. Los habitantes al ver esto corrieron a refugiarse a

sus hogares, temiendo que en cualquier momento se desatara una pelea. A pesar de este

imprevisto avistamiento de dichos aviones, no sucedió nada. Se dice que fue para visualizar

la ruta de dichos grupos paramilitares, y saber hacia dónde se dirigían; otros aseguran que

no desato ninguna pelea en la zona para proteger a la población de la región.

Hasta el día de hoy no se sabe que sucedió aquella noche, porque, aunque no paso

nada en el territorio de dicha vereda, esa noche a lo lejos se escuchaban disparos y paso de

ser la noche con el silencio más tenebroso, a la noche en donde no se escuchaban los grillos

como habitualmente si no solo disparos a lo lejos.

Se dice que, si de pronto estos grupos paramilitares siguen circulando, sus rutas

siguen siendo las mismas, entre esas la que pasa por la vereda que hemos mencionado. Es

tanto así que se habla de que hoy por hoy se han visto pasar, pero la comunidad no habla de

ello por miedo a que se desate de nuevo el temor como el de aquella noche.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I liked this activity, it has made me understand the theme of the week

better and being able to use previously seen themes was great.
