1 Objectives

This document defines the procedure for controlling data visibility in Catalog and
Category appearing on eService application.

Siebel eService organizes the knowledge base through a catalog structure, which
includes one or more categories. Before configuring FAQs or other solutions, you
must define at least one catalog (named eService) and its associated categories.
This catalog and associated categories will represent the structure in which your
knowledge is organized, both internally and externally, for the customer.

A catalog is a collection of items arranged in a logical hierarchy of categories. Many

different kinds of content items can be grouped in catalogs in your Siebel
application.

Categories can contain content items and other categories (called subcategories).
Each category can belong to only one catalog and one parent category.

You can control the user access to Siebel referential data, such as FAQs and
Categories, so that a group of users can view specific FAQs or Categories. Such a
process would involve Create User Lists, Create Access Groups and Assign
appropriate User Lists to Access Groups.
