It is a pleasure and honor to write this letter of recommendation for Spencer Price. Spencer was a student intern in my third grade classroom from August 2021 through April 2022. While at Pleasantview Elementary School in Eastpointe Community Schools, she made a difference: a difference in her students' academic and social-emotional achievements, a difference in our class culture, and a difference in how her students viewed themselves as valued members of their world. Spencer jumped right in from the beginning and helped to organize our empty classroom. She participated in Open House and Parent Conferences to build strong home and school relationships with our families. During the observing stage of her internship, Spencer immediately sought connection with our students and led small groups. Prior to her scheduled lead teaching, she volunteered to plan two units so she could put the process into practice. She created lessons that included cooperative learning, guided reading/writing/math groups, technology, differentiation, and hands-on fun. On top of her dedication to the classroom she also co-ran an after-school book club where students were exposed to culturally diverse literature and activities, culminating with community members and government officials viewing the students' final presentations. Building a welcoming and loving relationship with her students was an obvious goal of Spencer’s from the first day. She went above and beyond in getting to know them on a personal level and implemented many procedures to ensure they each felt heard and appreciated. Her endless energy and positive affirmations were and will be treasured. They always knew that she believed in them. Spencer quickly became a valued member of our grade level and our building. She actively participated in our PLC data team meetings, and she attended school improvement meetings and district professional development. She never hesitated to ask questions and offer suggestions to make our classroom and school a better place for our kids. Spencer cares about her students and takes the responsibility of providing a quality education very seriously. She is, by far, the best of the best. Any school would be fortunate to have her as a part of their team. I give Spencer the highest recommendations and would be willing to discuss her qualifications at any time.
