Tinseau - Collard - Jousse / Team Pescarolo Team / Pescarolo Judd

Two class wins for Motul following a FANTASTIC race!

Between the Peugeot Audi battle, the return of Pescarolo Team, the arrival of Nissan engines in LMP2 and the appearance of Lotus Evoras and Ferrari 458 Italias in GTE Pro, this 79th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans led to a fine race being predicted. The 249,500 spectators present did not come for nothing: the 2011 edition will go down as an exceptional vintage! Following the two 24-hour races and despite the sister cars spectacularly leaving the track on occasions, it was in the end the Audi No.2 which won the day by crossing the chequered flag only 15 seconds ahead of the Peugeot No.8. Benoit Trluyer (who obtained the pole and driver of Team Motul Autech in SuperGT!), Andr Lotterer and Marcel Fassler will remain the heroes of this enthralling race. So close to a miracle Still in LMP1, Team Pescarolo also came close to victory. Solidly fifth-placed (ahead of the Peugeot Oreca Matmut No.10) less than three hours from the chequered flag, nothing nor nobody appeared able to prevent Henri Pescarolos men from wearing the honorific crown of best petrol team of the class. Unfortunately, the dream which seemed so close came to an end at exactly 12h53. Trapped by fleeting rainfall in the first of the Porsche turns, Emmanuel

Ojjeh - Lombard - Kimber Smith / Team Greaves Motorsport / Zytek Nissan

Collard could not get back on track after violently coming off it. What a pity... A Nissan can hide another one! In the LMP2 class, the Nissan teams supported technically by Motul clearly showed their supremacy. Indeed, the Oreca 03 of Team Oreca Matmut (Halliday Prmat Kraihamer) long set the pace by dominating the class until the early hours when David Halliday made a mistake, trapped by his cold tyres. The penalty was immediate with the disqualification of the Oreca No.48 from the race at 6h41. After lying in ambush for several hours, the Zytek

Nissan No.41 of team Greaves Motorsport (Ojjeh Lombard Kimber Smith) then demonstrated that slow and steady wins the race is the prime rule in Endurance by taking a really merited class victory.

Colin Edwards / Yamaha Tech 3 / YZR - M1

Third place secured by Colin Edwards !

Just nine days after breaking his right collarbone at the Catalunya Grand Prix, the American rider of Team Yamaha Tech3 managed to mount the third step of the British Grand Prix on 12 June at Silverstone. However, the least that can be said is that the weather conditions were atrocious, let alone for someone returning to the track after injury. Despite the lashing rain, Colin Edwards battled from sixth to third place, thereby securing the twelfth podium of his career, the first since the second-placed finish he took in 2009 at Donington Park. For his part, Cal Crutchlow unfortunately couldnt take part in his national Grand Prix after suffering an injury. After his serious fall during the qualifying session, the rider of Team Yamaha Tech3 was taken to the track medical centre where he was soon diagnosed to have a broken left collarbone. If we go by the speedy recovery of Colin Edwards, Cal Crutchlow should nevertheless appear on the list of contenders of the Netherlands Grand Prix on 25 June.

Clment Desalles undisputed victory

On the highly technical Agueda circuit in Portugal and in front of a crowd of more than 13,000 spectators, Clment Desalle proved once more he was the strongest last weekend. With two wins in two rounds to his name, the Belgian rider purely and simply dominated this sixth meeting of the season, taking care to leave only a few crumbs for his closest pursuers. Long under pressure from Steven Frossard, the Belgian rider did not succumb and finally took his third victory since the beginning of the season. As for Steve Ramon, the second rider of Team Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX1 for which Motul is a technical partner, the latter suffered an injury to his left groin during the race. Bearing the discomfort, he nevertheless took eighth position following the two races.
