Synopsis

Origin
The origin of dance is undefined yet known for its ancient existence, seen and
observed in artifacts it has developed through generations and today seen to be
developing with current times similar to human culture .South Indian dance forms
origins can be traced back to Natya Shastra performed in temples. Existence of
dance has emerged ever since there was civilizations for purpose of entertainment,
celebration, rituals and to depict stories .Seen in various cave art that depicts
dancing figures .The Dancing lady from the times of Mohenjdaro is quite the
example of the existence of dance in prehistoric times.

Aim:
To promote and preserve South Indian classical dance forms.

Objectives:
 To locate and understand where the south Indian dance forms are performed
at.
 To bridge the gap between ancient practice of the south Indian dance forms
and current scenario of the same
 To help in increasing the target audience and garner more attention
 To aid the local artists and help in securing their profession.
 To build the entertaining factor for promoting purposes
 To understand Natya Shastra and its fundamentality
 To evaluate the stages of the south Indian dance forms
 To study spaces that depict culture and dance.

Methodology
Inculcating temple architecture specifically of the Natya Mandir into spaces that
the south Indian dance forms can be performed at.
Designing learning and teaching spaces that are an amalgamation of nature and
built spaces.
To relate regional architecture and the specific dance forms originated in the said
regions, aiming towards south India.
Creating meditative spaces to bring about the therapeutic benefits of the south
Indian dance forms.
Providing with exhibiting spaces that would intrigue the spectators to learn and
develop an interest in these south Indian dance forms not just as an audience but
also as an advocate who would help in preserving and promoting.
