served as minister of health of the republic of Indonesia from October 22, 2009 until April 30,
2012. Sedyaningsih began her career in 1979 as a clinician in the Jakarta pertamina hospital. She

Sedyaningsih worked as a researcher in the center of disease control research and

2006, sedyaningsih held an important position at the world health organization’s headquartes in
Geneva, as a technical advisor in the department of communicable disease surveillance and
response. She was appointed as the director of the response. She was appointed as the director of
the center biomedical research and program development, NIHRD in 2007. Sedyaningsih was
given notable credit by her fellow researches for her courage in having helped devise the
GISAID sharing mechanism, playing a constructive role in global health. Sedyaningsih was
appointed minister of health of the republic of Indonesia on 22 October 2009 by president susilo
bambang yudhoyono and joined his cabinet which was called the second unified Indonesian
cabinet.

Commodore Yos Sudarso was an Indonesian naval officer who was killed in a battle between the
Dutch and Indonesian vessels on January 15,1962. At the time of his death, Yos Sudarso was
deputy chief of staff of the Indonesian Navy.

The battle in which he was killed occure near Vlakke Hoek, or Etna Bay, in the Arafura
Sea. Dozens of Indonesian lives were lost and it is commemorated by “Sea Sacrifice Day”, an
annual nation-wide day of remembrance. Yos Sudarso, along with his commodores were killed,
when his ship, the KRI Macan Tutul was gunned down. The ship was made a target deliberately
as a part of saving to other ships in the vicinity, KRI Macan Kumbang and KRI Harimau.

Twelve years after his death, Yos Sudarso was officially added to the register of indonesian
heroes for the revolution. Indonesia issued a special postage stamp to commemorate his service
to his country. Indonesia’s Yos Sudarso Island and Yos Sudarso Bay are named in his honor.
