After reading all the approaches being discussed in the course pack, I found three types of approaches

that being used by the researcher in his analysis of dramatic play and these are Formalistic, Sociological
and Cultural Approach. For me, formalistic approach was used because it specifies and focuses about
literary element such as the character of each story, the theme and the setting itself. In this paper, the
researcher talked about what each story all about. I also believed that it used formalistic approach
because based on the analysis, all of the works tackles about the meaning of it and the setting was
specified which is Cebuano society.

Second, I also think that sociological approach was used it is because it discussed different social issues
in social world. The author tend to let the readers understand the social world and that each story has
something to offer where they were affected by the society they lived in. This also allows the readers to
stand apart mentally from the experiences they experienced and see the connection between private
concerns and social problems.

Lastly, cultural theory was used because societal communication takes a humanistic view at the group
by considering values, and assumptions that occur because of the interactions of each member in the
society. The norms, standards, and customs of the story was discussed that we knew.
