Abstract

Technology plays an essential role in the process of teaching and learning in these days and it
gives good opportunities for students to learn and apply the 21 st century skills in the classroom.
Despite the usefulness, the difficulties are still found in using technologies (ICT Tools) by some
EFL teachers and some always need help to use them in the class. This study surveyed
perceptions and difficulties faced in using technologies in the classroom by English faculty
teachers of Mandalay University. The data is collected by using questionnaires followed by some
open-ended questions and the result is discussed in three parts: perceptions, difficulties and
teachers’ comments. The result showed that teachers have high perceptions on using
technologies (ICT tools) as well as their difficulties are high. Their responses to the open-ended
questions revealed that they want the University to offer training to be able to integrate
technology in the classroom effectively. It is hoped that education policy makers will consider
teachers’ difficulties and help to implement some trainings as well as tools to integrate
technology to promote higher education sector.
