A last love

There was once a man who was very much in love with a girl. This man is very romantic. The man folded
1,000 pieces of paper cranes as a gift to his girl. Although he was just a small executive in his company,
they were very happy together.

One day, his girl told him she was going to Paris and would never come back. She also told him that she
could visualize any bright future for both of them, so let’s go their own ways . The man then was
heartbroken but he agreed.

One day he regained his confidence. He worked hard day and night, just to make something out of
himself. Finally with all these hard work and the help of his friends, theman had set up his own
company. “You never fail until you stop trying.”, that was what he always told himself, “I must make it in
life!”

One rainy day, when the man was driving, he saw an elderly couple sharing an umbrella in the rain
walking to some destination. It didn’t take him long to realize that those were his ex-girlfriend’s parents.
He drove slowly beside the couple. He wanted them to see him in his luxury car. He wanted them to
know that he wasn’t the same one anymore.

The couple was walking towards a cemetery. Following them, the man got out of his car. There, he saw
his ex-girlfriend, a photograph of her smiling sweetly. He saw his precious paper cranes in a bottle
placed beside her tomb.

The couple saw him. The man walked over and asked them why this had happened. They explained that
their daughter did not leave for France. She was stricken ill with cancer. She had believed that he would
make it someday, but she did not want her illness to be his obstacle. Therefore she had chosen to leave
him.

His daughter had wanted her parents to put his paper cranes beside her. If the day came, when fate
brings him to her again, he could take some of those paper cranes back with him. The man just wept.
