Choose the best product evaluation process for you.
Explain and site an example.
When we talk about product evaluation, we’re referring to a type
of assessment in which the evaluator looks at and rates the finished product rather than the process of creating it. It is more concerned in the learner’s final prototype. Product evaluation focuses on evaluating the result or outcome of a process. Process is a procedure, something you perform to attain a specific outcome. A set of operations or steps taken to achieve a specific goal.
For me, the best product evaluation process is the laboratory
test section. To ensure quality and reliability of a product, required testing should be set in place. Through laboratory testing, manufacturers are able to set technical standards for their products in order to produce high-quality materials that are safe for customer use. Laboratory testing ensure that a product has met the mandatory criteria or requirements of the country into which it will be imported. It should be remembered that passing mandatory tests does not guarantee or even signify the quality of the goods. For example, children’s jewelry destined for the Philippines must conform to mandatory regulations regarding the amount of lead contained in the piece. However, the presence or absence of lead does not ensure that the jewelry will conform to the buyers quality requirements: for example, whether a clasp functions properly, or a decorative coating is evenly applied. Laboratory tests are carried out in a lab’s controlled environment. The regulatory specification or standard that applies to each test specifies the exact conditions under which it is conducted. For example, the standard may specify that the test is properly conducted using specific equipment, temperatures, chemicals, procedures, timing, and etc. In order for the test findings to be used to certify the product, all of these conditions must be strictly followed.
Product inspections assess the quality of the product at the
production facility, to ensure that it is up to the manufacturer’s and buyer’s requirements. For example, in the case of children’s jewelry, a product inspection can check for the correct alignment and color of the gems in the piece.
