TOX softWare Server
The TOX®softWare Connect HMI cannot be started at the same time as the
TOX®softWare HMI. Changes in the HMI configuration are only available after the
HMI is restarted.
BA 40.HMI config.201008.de 4
3 Configuration of HMI Config
After the program is started, the configuration window appears with four tabs
(Global / Application modules / Language / Connections).
When the button 'Cancel' is pressed, all changes made in all tabs since the
program was started are rejected. The program is closed.
The program 'TOX®softWare Server' in the background is also ended without ac-
cepting the changes with the menu item 'File\End', the key combination 'Alt'+'F4' or
with the button [X] in the top right-hand corner of the title bar.
'Global' tab
In the 'Global' tab, choose between navigation with the mouse/keyboard or with
the touch screen:

3 Configuration of HMI Config
The name displayed in the title bar of the HMI can be changed in the input box
'Caption'.
The checkbox 'Mouse pointer' enables the mouse pointer to be shown or hidden.
A tick in the 'Mouse pointer' checkbox means: input with mouse and keyboard,
no tick means: input with touch screen.
The checkbox 'Window frame" defines whether the HMI is run in full screen mode
or like other applications in a window frame. If the checkbox is not enabled, the full
screen application can only be minimised in the HMI or displayed in the back-
ground via the corresponding buttons 'Minimise HMI' and 'HMI in the background'
respectively. For this, it uses the full screen during run time. An HMI with a window
frame can be minimised with the buttons in the top right-hand corner of the appli-
cation bar of the window frame. The window can be moved via the window frame.
If the checkbox 'Adapt to screen size automatically' is not enabled, the target size
of the HMI display can be selected via the selection box.
Scaling with the aid of the selection box "Size in pixel" is disabled with automatic
adaptation to the screen size.
If the checkbox 'Adapt to screen size automatically' is not enabled, the size of the
program window can be selected from the selection list with the following resolu-
tions: 800 x 600 / 1024 x 768 / 1280 x 1024.
The selected resolution is then used independently of the space actually available
on the screen.

3 Configuration of HMI Config
For this purpose, coupling of the feedback message of the running HMI to a de-
fined output can be activated by enabling the checkbox 'HMI Heartbeat signal'.
The output is defined in the 'Output' box. Via this output, an external application
can now check whether the HMI is running actively and therefore exports process
data or not. If the HMI is not active, further processing can be stopped with the ex-
ternal application to prevent gaps in process data backup and to inform the user
that the HMI is not running correctly.
If the checkbox is not enabled, the signal is not connected to the defined output.
• Category 'Backup'
In this category, restoring a backup of the TOX®softWare or of the system or restor-
ing the TOX®softWare or of the system can be started with the allocated buttons
'Backup' and 'Restore'.
The description of the backup and restore functions can be found in the
'TOX®softWare Server' in chapter '4.4 Backup and Restore'.
BA 40.HMI config.201008.de 7
3 Configuration of HMI Config
The installed software modules are loaded when the HMI is started, independently
of whether the modules can be started in the TTM (TOX Touch Menu) via a button
or not (see documentation TOX®softWare HMI).
The application modules used can be defined in this window.
With a default installation for a spindle, the application modules 'toxappbasic.jar',
'toxappdiagnostic.jar' and 'toxappmsgflex.jar' are listed in the window 'Installed
modules'. Depending on the controller type and/or the application type selected,
the relevant modules are pre-installed. The other available applications of the pro-
gram module are displayed under 'available modules'.
BA 40.HMI config.201008.de 8
3 Configuration of HMI Config
The new module is loaded the next time the HMI is started and is then available
for configuration in the TTM (TOX Touch Menu).
BA 40.HMI config.201008.de 9
3 Configuration of HMI Config
The deleted module is then no longer available in the HMI. If the module was
stored in the HMI as a reference for a button, this button is displayed in the TTM
and/or QSM as shown in the following diagram.
The button now no longer has any function and can be deleted
according to the instructions in the documentation 'HMI TTM'.
If the module is added again, the reference to the application is
valid again and the button can continue to be used.

3 Configuration of HMI Config
'Language' tab
This window of the Connect HMI configuration lists all currently available lan-
guages for the various applications of the TOX®softWare.
All text elements in the applications which are internationalised (= resolution via
keys which refer to a language-specific translation) are displayed in the selected
language.
If there is no translation available for the relevant text element, the default lan-
guage is used. For applications of the TOX®softWare, this is English.
The language change is only effective after the programs are restarted from the
TOX®softWare module.

3 Configuration of HMI Config
'Connections' tab
The entries under the 'Connections' tab show the connections which are available
for the HMI. Connections refer to the combination of an adapter with the higher or-
der server node. Every adapter-server node combination represents a unique
connection.
At most, all connections available in the TOX®softWare Server can be defined. The
connections available in the HMI can be limited to certain connections here.
Below the connection tree there is a node which represents the server name cur-
rently defined in the TOX®softWare.
If the node is opened via the plus icon to the left of it, the activated adapters are
listed below the server.

The current connections are displayed in this window. The marked entries can be
modifed with the buttons to the right of the display panel:
Button 1: Add server
Button 2: Add adapter
Button 3: Modify
Button 4: Scroll up in display panel
Button 5: Scroll down in display panel
Button 6: Add adapter list from server
Button 7: Delete marked entry
Note
If you want to use all adapters already defined in the
TOX®softWare Server in the HMI, you need button 6. The
procedure is described in the chapter 'Add adapter list
from the server'.
Depending on the level selected in the display panel, the buttons are enabled or
disabled.

3 Configuration of HMI Config
The node 'ToxServer' symbolises the TOX®softWare Server. Normally, only one
server per PC is used. It is not possible to start more than one server from a
TOX®softWare installation. However, more than one server can be defined but
these cannot be operated simultaneously.
The adapters defined in the TOX®softWare Server are listed below the server node.
By selecting a TOX®softWare Server (coloured background), the buttons 'Add
adapter', 'Modify' and 'Add adapter list from server’ are enabled in the Modify
menu.
BA 40.HMI config.201008.de 14
3 Configuration of HMI Config
• Add adapter
Click on the button 'Add adapter' to open the following selection win-
dow:
Function
The selection box only contains the adapters to be se-
lected which have previously been defined in the
TOX®softWare Server. If further adapters are available,
these must first be configured in the TOX®softWare Server.
• Modify adapters
By selecting an adapter (coloured background), the button 'Modify' is enabled in
the Modify menu.
The complete adapter list from the TOX®softWare Server is then accepted and is
available for working with in the HMI.
BA 40.HMI config.201008.de 15
3 Configuration of HMI Config
The 'Adapter' node represents the relevant adapter in the higher order TOX®
Server (e.g. EpzAdapter).
At this level, all adapters of the TOX®softWare Server are listed which were enabled
in the HMI configuration.

Message 'Delete'
If the action is carried out on the server node, for example,
the TOX®softWare Server with all associated adapters is
deleted from the configuration. Before deleting, the follow-
ing message is displayed as a safeguard:
Deletion is confirmed with 'Yes', deletion is cancelled with 'No' and 'Cancel'.
