SUBJECT : UPDATED ROTOCOL ON HEALTHWORKER AND WORKPLACE SAFETY

In line with the current guid lines set upon by the Department of Health (DOH) thru the Inter-Agency
Task Force (IATF), also in preparation of our institution to the transition of pandemic status to endemic status of
COVID-19 disease and possible emergence of other infectious diseases including monkeypox, the following
protocol has been recommended by the Hospital Infection Prevention Control Unit to be implemented in all
departments and offices of OMMC.
This protocol shall take effect on June 8, 2022.

I. HEALTHCARE WORKER SAFETY

11. WORKPLACE SAFETY

A. Cleaning and disinfection


1· Practice of cleaning and disinfecting
surfaces using the appropriate disinfecting chemical agents
such as 0.5% sodium hypochlorite solution (bleach) or 70% alcohol of the COVID and non-
COVID areas at least 2-3 times daily is highly encouraged .
2. UV disinfection is no longer required as means of disinfection.
3. Misting is not required and discouraged as means of disinfection.

B. Visitors
1. No visitors allowed in COVID areas
2. Visitors in non-COVID areas will only be allowed if with complete vaccination and currently
asymptomatic
a. Two (2) visitors at a time only will be allowed to enter the hospital premises .
b. Minor visitors (aged <13) are not allowed to enter hospital premises.
c. All visitors are required to wear at least a surgical mask upon entering hospital premises.
d. No mask no entry must be implemented.

Important points:
- Continue to be vigilant at all times
- Always strictly follow the minimum healthcare protocol inside and outside the hospital premises
Do not forget the five moments of hand hygiene: before and after touching the patient, before and
after doing a procedure, and after touching patient's surroundings.
