LOPEZ, MD, MPH, MHA, CESO IV Director IV In support to the implementation of the Universal Health Care, we recommend mobilizing the Barangay Health Workers as additional workforce in the community in navigating identified household members needing primary health care services, referral to health care providers and accredited health care institutions. In addition, Republic Act 7883 of Rule II Section 1, pertaining to the roles and responsibilities of Barangay Health Workers as Health Care Service Providers states that “the Barangay Health Workers shall render primary health care services to the members of the community by monitoring the health status of the household members under his/her area of coverage”.
