TOPIC 30-4-2020: MANY PEOPLE ARE TRAVELING TO OTHER

COUNTRIES. WHY? IS IT A POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE DEVELOPMENT?

In recent years, overseas tourism has become a tendency in many parts of the world.
There are various contributing factors leading to this phenomenon and I believe this
development is beneficial. This essay aims to analyze some primary causes and positive
improvements of international travel.

To begin with, there are two major factors encouraging tourists to travel overseas. First,
many of them have a demand to experience different cultures. Traveling to other nations
and regions gives travelers the opportunity to get exposed to the locals and observe their
cultural differences. By having time with local residents, tourists can learn about their
way of life as well as regional languages. Another factor behind people’s motivation to
travel abroad is for relaxation. After long hours dedicating themselves to work, travelers
tend to spend their days-off visiting particular places which may not be similar to their
ones such as island, mountainous region in order to recharge their batteries and freshen
themselves.

Consequently, the tendency of traveling overseas has brought significant impacts on

people. First of all, it is of great help for tourists in broadening their horizons. When
visiting other countries, travelers have the chance to immerse themselves in different
languages, cultures and norms. In this way, they can be more understanding about ways
of life that are vastly different from theirs. Secondly, international tourism also boosts
visitors’ mental well-being. Traveling gives them a chance to escape from the frenetic
modern life; therefore, tourists can unwind and destress themselves to achieve some
peace of mind.

All in all, growth of demand in acquiring new knowledge and for recreation are the main
two reasons behind people’s motivation to travel overseas. In my opinion, the advantages
of this development outweigh its disadvantages.
