Plot Summery
Letters to Van Gogh tells how Armand Rouulin, the son of the postman from Van Gogh's
hometown, decides to travel to France to deliver the last letter Vincent wrote to his brother
Theo, only to find that Theo has also died and will now look to other friends. of Vincent to the
right person to be able to deliver said letter, but not before learning of the circumstances that
led to Van Gogh's death. This story takes us to different points in Van Gogh's life, which is told
by the different characters, hence the Postman Roulin tells us the events that made him leave
his hometown in search of mental treatment and then the passage through Paris and Auvers-
sur-Olse where he will meet other characters in his life such as PéreTanguy, Doctor Gachet, his
relatives and the inhabitants of Auvers with whom he will determine different clues that can
solve what happened to Vincent. In any case, we see a great challenge for those who watch
this film, because the narrative is somewhat slow and do not expect to suddenly see much
action, in a series of events in which we suddenly observe how a character is presented in
some way by a portrait of Van Gogh and each of these characters develops as the plot
demands. From there, our main character, Armand Rouulin, is portrayed more as an antihero,
one who reluctantly accepts the mission he is given and who little by little soaks up what he
experienced in the different events, to reach a point where he simply accepts reality. of the
events.

Review!
I think it's a great movie, I think I dare say it's one of the
best I've ever seen.
This is a unique film and definitely a must for Van Gogh
lovers.
This project is impressive since the entire film is made of
oil.
The plot develops a bit slowly, in the end we don't know
much more than we did at the beginning, but surely we can
keep the memory of this great movie.

Key movie scenes

As it is practically a biopic about Vincent

van Gogh, the film is full of significant and
relevant scenes to understand his life and
work. Vincent tried to fit into his family but
never succeeded, he always felt that for his
parents he lived in the shadow of a child
they lost when he was very young and who
was also called Vincent.
Curious fact

65,000 frames on canvas.

The film Letters from Van Gogh shows the painter and his work
through the eyes of the young Armand Roulin, son of a
postman and friend of the artist. His father's commission to
deliver a posthumous letter to Theo, Vincent's brother, forces
Armand to go through the last seasons of the painter's life, talk
to people who knew him and interview others who doubted
that Van Gogh's death was due to to a suicide. In his detective
search, the young man, whom Van Gogh had portrayed on
several occasions, guides the viewer through a large number of
well-known paintings with landscapes, interiors and characters
portrayed by the painter.
