To Kill a Mockingbird Final Project

For your final project for To Kill a Mockingbird you will choose one of the following projects to
complete. This project will be your final assessment for this unit. Projects will not be
accepted if they are sloppy, turned in on notebook paper, or in pencil.

Project #1 Short Story

Write an additional chapter following the end of the novel OR before the beginning of the
novel. The chapter should be at least two pages typed in length and written in MLA format.
Your story must follow the setting of the novel, include at least three characters, and dialogue
between the characters.

Project #2 Poetry Book

You will create a poetry book with four poems based on the novel. Each of these poems must
have a different structure and be about a different element of the novel (a character, the
setting, a theme, the symbolism, etc.). Some poems you can include are haikus, I am poems,
free verse, Bio poems, lyric, etc. Each poem MUST include a color picture and be on a separate
page of your book. Each of your poems MUST include one direct quote and citation.

Project #3 Character Collage

You will create a collage or mural based on one of the characters from the novel. This must be
standard poster size and be completely covered. On the back of your poster board, you must
include at least 5 quotes to support the images you chose on your poster.

Project #4 Comic Strip

Design a comic strip that relates to To Kill a Mockingbird. It should have at least 10 boxes
with dialogue. You may draw your own or use a comic strip generator to assist in your comic
strip. You must include at least one quote from the novel. The quote must be creatively used in
your comic strip and include a citation. You must include color in your comic strip. This MUST
be a NEW scene that relates to the novel. You may NOT simply create a comic strip
illustrating an already existing scene.

Project #5 Newspaper

For this project, you will design a Maycomb newspaper. This must be standard newspaper size,
include at least 4 articles on different topics, and at least three pictures. This is the only
project that MAY be submitted in black and white.

Project #6 Quotes

You will choose 10 quotes from the novel that represent theme, symbolism, or some type of
figurative language. You must explain what the quote represents and include in text citations.
This must also include at least three pictures illustrating three quotes.
