10 Direct Leach (DL)

A new concentrate blending and slurrying facility is required in the concentrate storage area to
prepare the blended concentrate slurry for the direct leach plant. This equipment includes two
small blending hoppers with belt feeders, a belt conveyor and a concentrate slurrying tank 50 m3
plus transfer pumps to send the concentrate slurry to the direct leach plant.
The direct leach plant is to be located in the area suggested by Nexa at the north side of the
plant.

The direct leach plant itself consists of a 250 kW Isa Mill for regrinding the concentrate prior to
leaching, a grinding mill feed tank 25 m3 and mill feed pumps, a grinding media preparation tank
and pump, a ground product storage tank 50 m3 and ground product pumps. The direct leach
circuit consists of three leach tanks 407 m3, a discharge slurry thickener 14 m, thickener
underflow pumps, a thickener overflow tank 30 m3 and overflow pumps. From the direct leach
thickener the leach residue slurry is pumped to a horizontal belt filter 24 m2 for washing prior to
transport to the residue storage pond.
