GONZALES, FRANCIS HENRY C.

SPL ME 1B

1. No. Velocity is a vector quantity, with a magnitude and direction. If two vectors have different
directions, they cannot be equal.
2. The car may be traveling at a constant speed of 60 km/h and going around a curve, in which
case it would be accelerating.
3. scalar quantity. An odometer is an instrument used for measuring distance travelled by a
vehicle such as car. Since distance is a scalar quantity, so odometer measures a scalar quantity.
4. No. As distance from target increases, the angle of aim must also increase because gravity
pulls the arrow downward.

5. At the top of its path. If launched vertically, it's speed at the top is zero. If launched at an
angle, the vertical component of velocity is zero, and the horizontal velocity is the d=same as
when it was launched.

6. They both reach the same height, which means they have the same distance to cover on their
way down. The one with the shallower angle will have a faster horizontal speed, but that doesn’t
matter for the time it takes both balls to come down. They remain in the air for the same time.
