Report On LGBTQ+ Movement ( #Move Me )

People around the world face violence and inequality—and

sometimes torture, even execution—because of who they love, how
they look, or who they are. Sexual orientation and gender identity
are integral aspects of our selves and should never lead to
discrimination or abuse. People's prejudice against sexual
minorities has gradually disappeared, but at the same time, LGBTQ
groups in some parts of the world are still suffering from unfair
treatment. In this age of new media, LGBTQ culture has been
disseminated globally. Social media, such as Twitter, have been the
epicentre of spreading the LGBTQ culture and movements. Social
media are becoming the tool to encourage the LGBT Q community
to come out and join the movement in order to make their voices
heard and wanting other people to accept their choices.

LGBTQ, which stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender

and queer, includes anyone who identi es as being outside of the
heterosexual cisgender binary. The use of the word queer or “Q”
was reclaimed by the community after years of the term being used
as a slur in an attempt to raise awareness for the non-binary nature
of gender and sexuality. The community has been referred to by
many different titles, and preference is dependent on the individual
person. Some of the most common terms include: Gay Rights, Gay
and Lesbian Rights, LGBT, GLBT, LGBTQ+, LGBTQIAA+, Queer
Rights, and Gay Liberation. In LGBT movement’s context, the
movement is represented as the union of gay men, lesbians,

bisexuals, and transgender people. The movements are a part of

the agenda that LGBT community emphasises on, such as the
freedom to love and acceptance of their choices. They aim to
increase the people’s rights to identify themselves as lesbian or
gay, includes to admit the entitlements, such as marriage

The LGBTQ rights movement has been carried out all over the
world. And with the increasing attention of all walks of life, media
force has gradually emerged in such equal rights activities. But with
the development of information technology, people's access to
information is almost monopolised by only a few media moguls, and
most of the relevant media have a certain political colour with media
statements having a direct impact on the effects of the equal rights
movement.

daily. The achievements of the movement widely differ from country
to country. While some countries have seen widespread and
growing awareness there are also other countries that remain
repressive in their homophobia. The LGBTQ community uses the
Internet to unite their community and outsiders together against the
challenges they face and to also inform them of the ways they plan
on gaining greater acceptance in society, speci cally through the
use of social platforms and memes.

Through this social activism movement, #Moveme and

#LGBTQrights, there was an enormous understanding, aid and
representative given to LGBTQ+ community.

lingered through many ages, but it's our responsibility to ght back
against these judgemental thoughts and assumptions for a society
that respects and honour each and everyone regardless of
someone's sexuality, gender and religion. The future is us and its in
our hands to triumph over all these hate crimes and prejudiced
behaviour against the queer community for injustice everywhere is
a threat to justice everywhere.
