Bad Tempered Billy

(1)Once upon a time there was a kid named Billy who had a bad temper. His
parents really tried to make him give up his bad temper. (2)They tried
everything to make him give up his temper. (3)But they couldn’t do it. (4)Then
one day his father came up with an idea to make him stop.

(5)So his father gave a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his
temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. (6)Then, by the end
of the month if he had 50 or more nails he would reward Billy. (7)So Billy
accepted it.

(8)The first day, Billy had driven 37 nails into the fence. (9)Over the next few
weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily
gradually dwindled down. (10)Then his father saw the progress that Billy was
doing and he figured out that it wasn’t good. (11)So he came up with another
plan.

(12)Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. (13)He
told his father about it and the father suggested that Billy will now pull out
one nail for each day that he was able to pass without losing his temper.
(14)The days passed and the boy was finally able to tell his father that all the
nails were gone.

(15)Then his father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. (16) He
said, “You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. (17)The
fence will never be the same. (18)When you say or do things in anger, they
leave a scar just like these holes”.
