DAILY LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 7 JANUARY 7, 2019

CONTENT STANDARDS The learners demonstrate an understanding of : the relation of geographical

location of the Philippines to its environment
PERFORMANCE The learners should be able to: analyze the advantage of the location of the
STANDARDS Philippines in relation to the climate, weather, and seasons
LEARNING The learners should be able to…
COMPETENCIES  demonstrate how places on Earth may be located using a coordinate
system; S7ES-IVa-1
 describe the location of the Philippines with respect to the continents
and oceans of the world; S7ES-IVa-2
 recognize that soil, water, rocks, coal, and other fossil fuels are Earth
materials that people use as resources; S7ES-IVb3
 describe ways of using Earth’s resources sustainably; S7ES-IVc-4

I.OBJECTIVES At the end of the session, the learners should be able to:
1.

II. SUBJECT MATTER 1. 1.The Philippine Environment

1.1 Location of the Philippines using a coordinate system
1.2. Location of the Philippines with respect to landmasses and
bodies of water
1.3. Protection and conservation of natural resource

B. PROCEDURES
ELICIT The facilitator may start with elicitation of the different indigenous instruments in
the locality used as musical apparatus. Ask them what particular local
occasions are these used. Ask them how these instruments are played to
derive from the students the concept of how sound waves are propagated.
ENGAGE -Teacher will present a video presentation about sound.
-teacher will use a powerpoint presentation to discuss the lesson.
EXPLORE - In this activity, students will group in to 6.
-Introduce activity 1 to arrive at the objectives: design a sounding box to explain
and explore how sound is produced
-the result must be presented by group in the class.
EXPLAIN Let each group present their answers giving emphasis on the following:?
Q1. What physical signs did you observe when you plucked each band. Did
you hear any sound? What produced the sound?
Q2. How different are the sounds produced by each band with different
thickness?
Q3. Are there changes in the note when you plucked the stretched band?
Q4. Arrange the elastics in sequence from the highest note to the lowest note
produced.
ELABORATE  Sounds can be described by high or low pitches.
 Pitch depends on how fast the particles of the medium vibrate.
 Pitch is the number of waves in a given amount of time, also known
frequency.
 Meaning the pitch depends on the frequency
Doppler Effect
 Change in pitch is referred to as the Doppler effect.
 Occurs whenever there is motion between the source of a
sound and its receiver.
 Source or receiver must be in motion.
EVALUATE Paper and pencil activity:
Explain the following:
1. What are the properties of sound?
2. Why do we need to know those properties?
3. Does the ear is important organ in our body?
EXTEND Assignment:
1. At home relate your experiences:
a. Did you experience any changes in pitch particularly the Doppler
effect?
