Work Instruction For QA In Cutting (Woven)

1.0) Objective:
To check the cutting of the fabric according to the approved article and size specification.

2.0) Scope:
This work instruction covers all activities carried out by QA in cutting.

3.0) Procedure:
3.1) QA has approved and/or Hold shade bands and sets/pieces.
3.2) Makes sure that range height is not exceeding the maximum allowed height of 05 to 5.5 inches for
sheeting /flannel, and 07 to 08 inches for Z-Hem / Tufting fabric.
3.3) Fabric widths are checked and Ensure that cutting is being made as per Cutting Layouts LHT/04/085
(Wherever applicable)
3.4) Cutting patterns are checked before range marking.
3.5) Checks marking once per range before cutting according to the given specification in Stitching
Program/Consumption Sheet LHT/04/038.
3.6) In directional design make sure fabric should be laid in one direction and check the direction 3 times
per range.
3.7) To make sure shade variation and Hold shades don’t get laid, follow the Cutting Plan LHT/04/098.
3.8) Whenever required, check the shades under customer specific light source and if no specific light
source is mentioned then D65 is used as standard light source.
3.9) Fabric hand feel / raising and peaching are checked as per customer requirement/ approved sample
before laying the fabric.
3.10) For all Baby articles, after cutting, cut pieces are checked within a range by Cutting QC as per AQL
1.5 (Inspection Level S1). The AQL is applied on all patterns within a range. And Measurement
Reports are made of all pulled samples. Measurement Report (Fitted) (LHT/04/193) is used only for
Fitted, while Measurement Report (General) (LHT/04/014) is used for all products except Fitted.
3.11) Keep the non-conforming fabric/article in “HOLD AREA” and write down in NCP (LHT/04/016), and
inform to Quality Manager.
3.12) Whenever there is new article / design comes, follow the instruction as per Trial Run WI(LHT/3/013).
3.13) Make sure that MCP (LHT/04/068) and PFD (LHT/04/045), wherever applicable, are followed and are
kept up-to-date while all relevant information is reported in Cutting Inspection Report (LHT/04/008).
3.14) If fabric defects (As per Cutting DCL LHT/04/025) found during cutting / range laying are informed to
supervisor / QM who then decides to take further action accordingly.
3.15) Cutting is done as per given shade band for all customer and shade wise sets cutting is done where
needed as per instruction of QAM that will be decided in meeting.
3.16) Use separate MCP and PFD for all Target Product.
