Allen makes his third world championship team spot by finishing third at the Toyota USATF
championships, running 13.09 behind Daniel Roberts’ 13.03 and NCAA champ Trey
Cunningham’s 13.08.
Before the Toyota USATF championships, Allen won two Wanda Diamond League meets in
Oslo on June 16th, running 13.22, and the Paris meet two days later in 13.16.
The former University of Oregon wide receiver and kick return specialist recently signed a free
agent contract to play for the Philadelphia Eagles. He’s won three USATF national outdoor titles
in his career, and made two Olympic Games finals in 2016 and 2021. Last year, Allen finished
fourth in the Olympic finals.

Jordin, a graduate of Boise State who is a dual citizen of the US and Cape Verde, was selected by Cape
Verde to compete in the 400 hurdles based on his dad’s ancestry. Father Joe was born in Cape Verde, a series of 10
islands in the Atlantic, about 350 miles off the West African coast.
Andrade, who was second in the NCAA championships in 2015 for the Broncos at the 400 hurdles, set
his season best on May 9th at the USATF Golden Games at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut,
California, where he went to school before transferring to Boise State. Jordin, who competed for the USA
in 2011 at the Pan-Am Junior Championships, follows in the footsteps of his uncle Henry, who ran the
110 hurdles for Cape Verde at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
Andrade appeared at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, where he advanced to the semifinals in the 400 hurdles,
and ran at the 2017 world championships in the first round. His last race was at the Tokyo Olympics, where he
finished seventh in his first round heat.

Josh, who is one of two members of the Seattle based Brooks Beasts competing in Eugene qualified for the British
team going to Eugene by finishing third at the British championships in Birmingham, UK on June 25th, running
3:40.63.
He scored his personal best of 3:29.05 in finishing third in the Olympic final in Tokyo last year.
The former NCAA champion from the University of New Mexico has followed the pattern he established in the
2019 and 2021 seasons of racing sparingly on the road to Oregon22. He’s only run two races indoors over
1500/mile, and three 1500m races outdoors this season.
Oregon22 marks Josh’s second world championships appearance, where he finished sixth in Doha.

She clinched her spot on the British squad by winning their national championships in Manchester on June 25th,
running 15:37.23.
Markovc, who under her maiden name Neale, was a multi-time All-American in cross country and track at
the University of Washington, won the European Championships at 3000 meters indoors in Torun,
Poland last year, running a personal best 8:46.43.
This indoor season, she won the British title at 3000 meters, and qualified for the world indoor championships at that
distance.
She attempted to run the world championships standard in the 10000m in May, but missed the standard by.57
seconds, running 31:25.57 in London.
Oregon22 marks Amy-Eloise’s world championships debut, though she did compete in Eugene at the world junior
championships in 2014.

Nageotte, a graduate of Ohio’s Ashland University, where she was a two-time NCAA Division II
champion, finished third at the Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships with a season best of 15-3 (4.65m).
She’s competed less going into Oregon22, including five indoor and outdoor meets each in 2022, only winning her
2022 season debut at the National Pole Vault Summit in Reno, where she cleared 15-1 (4.60m). Nageotte made the
US World Indoor squad by finishing second at the USA Indoor championships, then followed it up with a second
place finish at the World Athletics indoor championships in Belgrade, where she finished behind training partner
Sandi Morris.
In her previous World Outdoor Championships appearance, Nageotte finished seventh in Doha, clearing 15-5
(4.70m). Katie won the Olympic title in Tokyo last year, clearing 16-1 (4.90m). She was the 2018 NACAC
champion and won two national indoor titles. In 2019, Nageotte was second at the Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru.
Nageotte is coached by University of Washington alum and former American record holder Brad Walker.
He coached at Washington State University from 2015-2019 season, when he decided to further his
education by moving to the Atlanta area. Nageotte moved to the Atlanta area to continue being coached
by Walker.

Dan received an invitation to compete in the men’s 20k walk field from World Athletics as one
of the 60 entries in the field despite his number 61 world ranking.
He earned his spot by finishing 23rd at the Poděbrady Walking meet in Poděbrady, Czech
Republic, walking the 20k distance in a personal best 1:23:10.
Nehnevaj was second at the US championships over the 35k distance on January 16th, walking in
a time of 2:59:22 in Santee, CA. At the World Athletics Walking Team Championships in
Muscat, Oman, he finished 45th in 3:06:37.

Pen Freitas got the world championships standard at the Tokyo Olympics, running 4:04.15 in the semifinals.
At the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Pen Freitas finished 12th in her first round heat of the 1500, running 4:18.53
in a busy season where she raced 15 times over that distance, including qualifying heats. She was the
2016 NCAA champion at the 1500m while competing at Mississippi State.
Pen Freitas also has world championship experience, representing Portugal at the 2017 outdoor
championships in London. She’s won four Portuguese outdoor national titles at 1500, two indoor
championships at 1500, and two indoor crowns at 800 meters.

Former University of Washington standout Sam Tanner makes his world championships debut
after running 3:34.37 to win the 1500m at the Nike Prefontaine Classic, under the Olympic
standard of 3:35.00.
Tanner won the New Zealand national title on March 6th in Hastings, New Zealand , running
3:41.97.
Tanner elected to turn pro after the Tokyo Olympics and signed a contract with Puma, foregoing
his remaining eligibility at the University of Washington.
Highlights of his 2021 collegiate season included a win at the Husky Classic indoor over the
mile, running 3:55.23, placing third at the Pac-12s in the 1500 in 3:41.19, and qualifying for the
NCAA championshipsin the mile indoors and the 1500 outdoors.
Tanner has the distinction of being the first UW recruit to break 4 minutes in the mile and the
first New Zealand high school runner to break 4 when he ran 3:58.41 in March 2019.

Trippas qualified for the world championships by running a personal best 8:19.60 at a meet in
Spain last year that also gave him a spot on the Australian Olympic team.
This spring back in the NCAA, Trippas took fifth in the NCAA steeplechase final, which was
one of the fastest in history. Trippas ran 8:20.29 in the final, the No. 12 time in NCAA history, as
the top-five finishers ran five of the twelve fastest times in collegiate history. He also won
another Ivy League outdoor steeple crown
During the indoor season, he was third in the 3000 at the Ivy League championships, and
finished seventh at the UW Indoor Preview mile, running 4:02.07 on the Dempsey Indoor oval.

At the Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field last month, she experienced the “Hayward Magic”
when on her final throw, she fired a season best 210-10 (64.26m) to surpass the world championship qualifying
standard of 210-0 (64.00m). Winger joined an elite group of women who have won six or more career national titles,
including Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Gail Devers, and Sanya Richards-Ross.
Winger won the Tucson Elite meet on May 19th with a toss of 207-5 (63.23m), and followed it up two days later at
the USATF Throws Festival in Tucson by winning with a throw of 209-2 (63.75m), just short of the world
championships standard.
In 2019, she finished fifth at the world championships in Doha, throwing 207-5 (63.23m), won the Pan Am
Games in Lima, Peru, and The Match Europe vs. USA in Minsk, Belarus. She was named by this website
as Washington state’s outstanding female track and field athlete of the decade at the end of 2019.
Oregon22 marks the sixth world championships for the Purdue University graduate, who has made the finals at the
world championships twice in her career

Woodruff, who trains with the Hurdle Mechanic group that includes former worldrecord holder Dalilah Muhammad,
had a breakout season in 2018, when she lowered her Panamanian national record from 55.76 in 2017, to 55.60 at
the Central American & Carribean Championships in Barranquilla, Colombia on 31 July.
She continued her roll in 2019, advancing to the semifinals at the world championships in Doha, where
she just missed her national record, running 55.61.
At last year’s Tokyo Olympics, she made the finals of the 400 hurdles, setting a national record of 54.22 in the
semifinals, becoming the first Husky to make a final in an individual running event since Jim Seymour in 1972 in
the 400 hurdles.
During her career at the University of Washington, she earned All-America honors in the distance medley
relay, and two second-team A-A honors in the 400 hurdles. She is currently the fourth fastest in UW
school history at 57.49.
