Jordin, a graduate of Boise State who is a dual citizen of the US and Cape Verde, was selected by Cape
Verde to compete in the 400 hurdles based on his dad’s ancestry. Father Joe was born in Cape Verde, a series of 10
islands in the Atlantic, about 350 miles off the West African coast.

Andrade, who was second in the NCAA championships in 2015 for the Broncos at the 400 hurdles, set
his season best on May 9th at the USATF Golden Games at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut,
California, where he went to school before transferring to Boise State. Jordin, who competed for the USA
in 2011 at the Pan-Am Junior Championships, follows in the footsteps of his uncle Henry, who ran the
110 hurdles for Cape Verde at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

Andrade appeared at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, where he advanced to the semifinals in the 400 hurdles,
and ran at the 2017 world championships in the first round. His last race was at the Tokyo Olympics, where he
finished seventh in his first round heat.

He hasn’t raced this season as he’s battled a lingering knee injury.
