Japanese Interwar Personal Armor

Body armour was developed in the 20s and 30s based on German trench armour of the Great War.
Personal armour was used both in China and Manchuria during the Interwar period.

This type weighed about 4 kg. with a thickness of about 2 mm.

Using the sample armour tables on p.16 of Investigator Weapons vol. 1 this
yields a value of 6/3 (medium velocity / high velocity).(edited).

General staff officer, 2x staff officers and bodyguards.

All the officers wear personal armour in order to defeat assassination attempts by Chinese rebels.
The armour used in the above and following images is computed using the improved armour rules in
‘Investigator Weapons volume 1’ and the further modifications made by myself in both the Cthulhu
Invictus and Cthulhu Dark Ages rules.
ARMOUR
TYPE VALUE
Japanese personal armour 6/3
Japanese service helmet 4/2

Using the values above, the Japanese officers (see above) and soldier (see below) have armour of:
Combined Value: 10/5
The value above represents armour proof against 10 points of damage to small arms except against
high velocity rounds, against which it is only proof against 5 points of damage.
The effectiveness of the combined armour value will depend on the success level of an opponent’s hit
roll. Thus an opponent with a 50% skill level with a firearm would roll damage against that value:

Normal roll (50% - 26%) 10/5

HARD roll (25% - 11%) 5/2
EXTREME roll (≥10%) 2/1
