Prayer Service June 17, 2011 Leader: Let us always remember that we are in Gods presence.

. In the name of the Father... Let us ask the Holy Spirit to accompany us that we may open our minds and hearts to God who takes the first step to reveal Himself to us. Video: Psalm 121 Introduction In the sacred books, the Father who is in heaven comes lovingly to meet His children and talks to them. As we enthrone the Bible, we pray that we may let your Word, in all its richness, dwell in our hearts. (Entrance of the bible- by the class president. The president will then pass the bible to the officers. The last officer will give it the rest of the students.) Leader: Lord, help us that in hearing, we may believe, believing we may hope and hoping we may come to love You, the One, True God. Gospel Reading: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 'Do not store up treasures for yourselves on earth, where moth and woodworm destroy them and thieves can break in and steal. But store up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where neither moth nor woodworm destroys them and thieves cannot break in and steal. For wherever your treasure is, there will your heart be too. 'The lamp of the body is the eye. It follows that if your eye is clear, your whole body will be filled with light. But if your eye is diseased, your whole body will be darkness. If then, the light inside you is darkened, what darkness that will be! The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ. Moments of Silence Reflection: In todays Gospel, Jesus reminds us of the temporariness of material things. Jesus challenges us to go beyond what is visible and invites us to grow deeper in our faith. This is the same challenge that Jesus poses to us at the start of our journey to knowing Him this year: to set our gaze on Him and be generous in answering His call to service. Am I too attached to the material things I possess? To what things do I always set my heart? Do I give importance to the things that will last forever? Now, everybody is invited to compose a little prayer completing these words, Jesus, help me to be ________ that I may always set my eyes on You. (After everybody is finished, each one will say his/her prayer aloud.) Leader: We will now be entrusted with this Holy Book. Let us receive it with much reverence and love. As the Bible is given, the person will say: (name) , this is the Word of God. The student responds with AMEN.

The last person to receive the Bible will be the one to place the Bible at the center of the room. When the last person receives the Bible, the leader will say: Leader: For your Word that reveals yourself to us, together we say WE PRAISE YOU LORD! Please repeat Leader: For your Word that guide our lives, together we say All: WE PRAISE YOU LORD! Leader: For your Word that speaks to our hearts, together we say All: WE PRAISE YOU LORD! Leader: For your Word that assures us of your love, together we say All: WE PRAISE YOU LORD! SONG: My Hearts Thanksgiving
