LESSON 5: NAAMAN’S MAID

II Kings 5: 1-16

Naaman was the captain of the army of the king of Syria. He was an honourable and
mighty man. The king liked Naaman as he was a brave man. But he was a leper. Now
Naaman's wife had a little maid who was brought as a captive from Israel. She was very
caring towards Naaman and told her mistress that there was a prophet in Israel who could
help to heal Naaman of his leprosy. This prophet was Elisha. Naaman humbly accepted the
little girl’s advice and went a long way to meet Elisha, a man of God. When Naaman reached
Elisha’s house, Elisha sent a messenger asking Naaman to go and wash himself seven times
in river Jordan to be healed. Naaman was upset but when he obeyed, God healed Naaman
completely. He was very happy and so was everyone. Thus, the little Israelite girl helped
Naaman, a Syrian to be healed of his dreadful leprosy.
