Managerial Communication (MCNH21-2) Group Activity

The case:

The organization where you work has been facing some financial difficulties. You have been
asked to meet some interest groups (employees) to inform that some of the benefits that
they have enjoyed so far will have to go. And, some downsizing is in the offing.

The suggestions:

- Being compassionate, empathetic, and truthful towards employees is of paramount

importance.
- It is important to maintain transparency and assure employees that interactional
and distributive justice will be upheld.
- We must appreciate the fact that employees will be fearful for their financial
security and provide them with the necessary exit assistance
- Have transparency with the employees: no surprises and sudden layoffs, it will be in
a phased systematic manner
- Gives employees a voice—an increasingly meaningful component of improving
employees' satisfaction with their employer.
- Assurance that the organization will uphold its responsibility and do right to the
employees by offering help and guidance in the close future through the times.
- Reducing the chances for misunderstandings and potentially reducing grievances
and lawsuits.
- Convince employees that the organization will do right by them
