Dear Mr. and Mrs. Gallagher,

I am writing in response to your concerns regarding the speed in which I am teaching my class. I
truly appreciate you bringing up your concerns about pacing, however, I unfortunately cannot
slow the pace we are currently working at.
As Shay’s 11th grade teacher, this is a vital year that we as educators focus our students
specifically on college selection and SAT prep. To ensure the success of all students, the pace
that we currently take in the classroom provides a more well-rounded education that properly
prepares them for SAT season. I also have been providing ongoing feedback to the students on
their individual work and have been spacing out the workload, so I feel confident that this is a
fair timeline.
I, however, would like to inform you about the after-school remedial help I provide Mondays
through Thursdays from 3 pm until 4 pm. If an after-school meeting doesn’t work out for her and
her schedule, I would also be happy to arrange remedial help during lunch or free period. I
encourage all of students to reach out when they are struggling in my class. I also have the
trajectory of my class planned out until the last week of school, so I’ve attached my classroom
calendar as a helpful reference. If you have any other concerns you would like to address, I
would be happy to arrange a phone conference to discuss Shay’s progress in my class. Once
