WAODE HUSRIAWATI (A1I216096) "Analysis of Mathematical Problem Solving Ability of
Students of SMP Negeri 1 Barangka Viewed from Their Polya Steps". The purpose of this study was to reveal in depth the mathematical problem solving abilities of Class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Barangka . This type of research is qualitative research. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Barangka in the academic year 2020/2021. The subjects in this study were class VIII ₁ as many as 23 students, and the subjects interviewed in this study consisted of 3 students. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction , data presentation, and drawing conclusions and data verification. Data validation was done by data triangulation. Guidelines used to perform the analysis sMathematical problem solving ability is solving mathematical problems in terms of Polya's steps. The results obtained in this study are 1) Students with high ability to solve problems have excellent problem solving, because they are able to understand problems completely, plan solutions appropriately, carry out plans by making appropriate substitutions and calculations, and are able to conclude and check. on the process and problem solving appropriately ,; 2) Students with moderate ability to solve problems have sufficient problem solving abilities because they are able to understand the problem completely, plan solutions appropriately, carry out plans by making substitution and calculations appropriately, and are able to conclude and check the process and solution correctly. However, students with moderate abilities are sometimes not careful in choosing the completion plan, so that at the stage of implementing the completion plan and looking back they have difficulty ,; 3) Students with low ability to solve problems have very poor problem solving abilities because they are not able to fully understand the problem, plan solutions inappropriately, are unable to carry out plans, and conclude and check the process and problem solving appropriately, because of difficulties. in understanding problems and planning solutions.
