SUBJECT REVISED INTERIM GUIDELINES ON COVID-19 PROTOCOL
IN VIEW OF SURGE IN CASES
In view of the surge in COVID-19 cases in our institution, the following Revised Interim
Guidelines on COVID-19 Protocols will be implemented effective immediately:
1. All Healthcare Workers (HCWs) are reminded to strictly adhere to the Minimum Public
Health Standards and existing Infection Control Protocols.
1.1. All HCWs must remind fellow HCWs, patients and watchers regarding proper wearing
of face masks and use of alcohol-based hand rubs.
1.2. Physical distance must be maintained whenever possible.
1.3. Serving of food in meetings and conferences must be packed individually.
2. To keep the wall of immunity from erosion and as per the latest directive from the Office
of the Secretary of Health, healthcare workers are mandated to have their primary
COVID-19 vaccination plus two booster vaccinations.
2.1, All qualified individuals are encouraged to have their COVID-19 vaccination,
including booster doses as scheduled
2.2. All HCWs, senior citizens and immunocompromised individuals are encouraged to
receive their second booster doses following existing guidelines.
2.3. Children 12-17 years old are encouraged to receive their Ist booster doses.
2.4, All vaccines must be pre-registered through htips.//tinyurl.com/JBLREGVIMS
3. All Clinical Departments and Units must designate personnel who will be assigned to
provide hospital services in the designated COVID-19 facilities.

3.1. All departments and units must ensure that assignment of all designated personnel are
properly documented, as part of requirements for provision of One COVID allowance
and other regulations,
3.2. All HCWs are reminded to strictly adhere to the established PPE protocols in their
respective area of assignments, including proper donning and doffing of PPE.

The following guidelines for COVID-19 testing will be implemented.
4.1, The following patients must undergo Rapid Antigen Test.
4.1.1. All patients for admissions.
4.1.2. Alll patients who will undergo operative or dental procedures at the Out Patient
Department
4.1.3, All patients for Hemodialysis at the Dialysis Unit
4.2, The following patients must undergo RTPCR test upon admission.
4.2.1. All patients for emergency or elective surgery
4.2.2. All patients for admission in Critical Care Units.
4.2.3. Alll patients with respiratory symptoms.
4.2.4. Alll patients with COVID-19 related symptoms.
4.3. A negative RAT will be required for non-Aerosol Generating elective procedures valid
at least 48-hour prior to the procedure for all elective operations scheduled from 18
July 2022 and onwards
44.A negative RTPCR result will be required for all Aerosol Generating elective
procedures valid at least 72 hours prior to the procedure for all elective operations
scheduled from 18 July 2022 and onwards. RTPCR more than 72 hours must be
repeated.
4.5. The Molecular Laboratory must ensure that all Rapid Antigen Test results are released
within thirty (30) minutes from Testing and all RTPCR results released within 24 to
48 hours from testing.
4.6, The attending physicians should expedite the schedule of patients once a negative
RTPCR result is obtained,
All RAT positive and RTPCR positive patients requiring emergency surgery or delivery
will be admitted and managed in the designated COVID-19 facility and shall be navigated
through the Healthcare Provider Network (HCPN).
5.1, Patients with mild symptoms and those that can be managed in Level 1 or Level 2
hospitals will be referred to the One Hospital Command for transfer.
5.2. RAT positive Post operative and post-Partum patients who are stable and are just
awaiting completion of isolation may be referred to the Local Government Unit or
designated Quarantine Facilities for continuity of care.

6. All existing regulations regarding pedestrian traffic inside the hospital will still be
implemented.
6.1. Suspension of Visiting Hours remain in effect
6.2. Security personnel must restrict entry of individuals,
6.3. One patient — one watcher should be implemented at all times.
6.4. No watcher is allowed in COVID-19 designated policies unless otherwise warranted
7. Contact tracing is no longer required under existing IATF guidelines
7.1. Exposed individuals must report immediately for COVID-19 related symptoms.
7.2. HCWs with COVID-19 related symptoms must seek early consult at the Environment,
Health and Safety Management Office.
8. Based on the Surge Capacity Response, 30% of the hospital's bed capacity shall be
allocated for COVID-19 related eases,
8.1. The COMPS and the Chief Nurse are tasked to identify the isolation wards and rooms
for the timely execution of accordion strategy based on surge response.
