A. Read the text carefully.

Luca Paguro is a 12-year-old sea monster and boy. He is very
shy, but he is also very curious about the world above the sea. He
lives in the waters next to the Italian coast with his parents, Daniela
and Lorenzo. His parents are always telling him that the human
world is a dangerous place, but he wants to know more about it.
Luca and all other sea monsters take on human form when they
are dry.
One day, Luca meets Alberto Scorfano, another sea monster
child who lives alone above the sea surface. Alberto is 14 years old
and becomes Luca's best friend. He wants to have fun and is
anxious to explore the human world. Alberto encourages Luca to get out of the ocean. Luca's
parents find out and decide to send Luca to live with his uncle Ugo. Luca runs away with Alberto
to hide out in Portorosso. They want to find a real Vespa and travel the world.
Giulia Marcovaldo is a 13-year-old Italian girl who befriends Luca and Alberto. She is an
adventurer with a love of books and learning. She teaches Luca about school and learning,
especially astronomy.
The boys and Giulia decide to form a team for the triathlon that is going to take place in town.
The race involves swimming, pasta-eating, and biking. As Luca and Alberto don’t want to reveal
themselves as sea monsters, they take on the biking and pasta-eating parts of the race,
respectively, while Giulia takes the swimming race.
