Motivation and Emotion
Motivation and Emotion
Emotion and motivation are tightly related to one another. Emotion is a mental and
physiological emotional state that leads our attention and drives our conduct, whereas
motivation is described as a force that energises, activates, and directs behaviour.
Emotion is frequently a source of motivation for people. For instance, when we feel
cheerful, we are motivated to do action that we think would keep us feeling that way. When
we are upset, we could feel driven to retaliate violently against the offender. Using the same
scenario, I felt depressed and furious with myself for not living a healthy lifestyle when I was
teased for being overweight by everyone. This feeling inspires me to be in shape and live a
healthy lifestyle.
In conclusion, although motivation and emotion have many differences from one another,
they also have connections between them. The one influences the other. We sometimes think
of motivation as something that prompts someone to act and behave in a particular way in
order to achieve a particular goal, whereas emotion refers to the feelings that result from the
motive or drive itself, from the behaviours it prompts, and from the achievement or failure of
the desired goal. Anything that inspires you will probably also make you feel something.
