Delhi High Court quashes FIR and directs parties to help clean River Yamuna

Justice Jasmeet Singh quashed an FIR filed under Sections 323, 341, 506, 509, 354 and 34 of
IPC, and directed the parties of the suit to work under the supervision of the Delhi Jal Board
Team for 45 days to assist in the cleaning of the river Yamuna.

Facts & History of the Case


A fight had ensued between the children of the complainant and the petitioners, wherein the
parents also got involved. Following the altercation an FIR was filed by the complainants.

However, the parties to the suit had settled the matter amongst themselves, as the nature of the
injuries as cited in the MLC were “simple”.

On that the Delhi High Court quashed the FIR and directed the petitioners and the respondents to
duly report to and work under the supervision of the Delhi Jal Board Team and assist them in the
cleaning of river Yamuna for a period of 45 days.

The Court also directed the parties to submit the certificate issued to them by the Delhi Jal
Board, post the 45 days, to be placed on record, within one week of the receipt of the said
certificate.
