Shapes are the most basic unit of any kind of visual media be that fine art, cinema, animation

film, video
games or any other forms. What shapes are used, how they are arranged, what kind silhouette they
form affect the viewer and their experience of the visuals, proper usage of shapes generates many
things in the viewers mind such as interest, recognizability, attention to areas of details and many other
things that makes the visuals interesting and attention grabbing. Application of these theories of shapes
is very subtle when it comes to live action films but very vivid, noticeable and way more important when
it comes to animation because in live action all the elements in the composition such as the characters
and the set are mostly close to reality and are shot in real locations with real people therefore there is
not much control over the shapes, whereas when it comes to animation and video games the characters
are required to be designed and environments as well then there is also the factor of style and the tone
and mood of the story which will also affect which shapes and how to use them.
