Culture Documents
Students will select a number which will pertain to a skill. The student will be assessed on only
one skill, but is expected to know how to perform all skills. All assessments are worth the same
number of marks. Each student will come with their assigned lab partner to perform the skills.
Students will sign up for a time slot that can be found on wiki. Please show up at least 5 to 10
minutes early. Any late entry will have time deducted from assessment time. Student must be
in uniform.
Ears
A. Objective
Perform inspection and palpation of external ear, external auditory meatus, external ear canal
and tympanic membrane.
Description Marks
External Ear 4 marks
Inspect and Palpate including skin condition
External auditory meatus 1 mark
Otoscopic examination of the following: 4 marks
External canal/auditory meatus
Tympanic membrane
Hearing acuity 4 marks
Vestibular function test 3 marks
Total 15 marks
Eyes
A. Objective
Perform inspection of the external eye structures (eyebrows, eyelids, lashes, eyeball,
conjunctiva, sclera and lacrimal gland) and the anterior eyeball structures (cornea and lens, iris
and pupil, PERRLA).
Students are expected to explain their actions and findings.
B. Special Test

A. Objective
Students are expected to provide the name of the CN and state their findings.

A. Objective
Perform the inspection and palpation of a lesion on the right upper arm.

A. Objective
Perform inspection and palpation of the neck, trachea, salivary glands and parotid gland.
Perform ROM of the neck.
Assess the carotid artery.
Perform palpation of the lymph nodes.
Perform inspection and palpation of the thyroid.
