DESCRIPTION 2.1, Application and features The Chris-Marine MPI is designed to easy remove worn valve seats from the cylinder head. The equipment consists of an induction generator which generates a high frequency current to an insulated water-cooled induction coll ‘The coll Is designed to fit a specific valve seat centred ‘on the valve guide. Tae coll induces a current to the valve seat which is given a rapid heating, Extra coils can be added to use the equipment for different engine types. The cold cylinder head prevents the valve seat from expanding and after cooling, the seat diameter has been reduced by 0.3 - 0.5 mm. The valve seat can be removed without force. As soon as the seat has been extracted, wrap the seat in a sturdy cloth, Put the seat ina limited container, preferably filled with water. Ifa fragmentation do occur, it will typically happen within 5 to 20 minutes of extraction. Generally, with smaller dimension seats, no specialized tool will be necessary, Standard extraction tools as used for automotive service purposes, will suffice For larger seats, a customized tool may be necessary. {In most cases, the existing tool used for cold extraction can be adapted, bearing in mind, that the necessary force is only a minute fraction of the force used for cold extraction, WARNING! The heating/cooling process can — depending on alloy ~ ereate high internal stress forces in the seat. These forces may be released, causing the seat to fragment Into several pieces with some force.
