Celebrity Gossip Newspaper

This project was amazing for learning new formatting skills, such as making columns. I
wish I had had more time to work on it, but for the time I had I think it looks really
good! I enjoyed making the formatting a little bit different on every page, such as the
text and picture placement. It was very fun reading all my peers’ articles, they were all
very good and it made it very hard to choose which ones to include in the newspaper.
I really enjoyed that we all got to post on the discussion board and use each other’s
articles to make a larger final product.

Standard 1.7.c: Students contribute constructively to project teams, assuming various

roles and responsibilities to work effectively toward a common goal.

My initial thought was that this project would be great for older students, especially as
a group project. It would be fun to assign roles and have the students work together to
make a big newspaper. Maybe each student makes one page and we can make one
large newspaper out of every page in the class. Or perhaps the class works in groups,
everyone can write an article and the students can edit each other’s articles, one
student adds the pictures, one student does the formatting, etc. It is another very
versatile project that works for many subject areas. This could be great for a history or
social studies class to research historical figures or current ones.
