Subject: Welcome to our country

Dear Harry Taylor. I am very happy to welcome you to my country. My name is Julio César Pérez
P., my family that is made up of my mother, my father, my two brothers and who writes to you,
we are very happy to share our home with you for the next few months. We know very little about
New Zealand, we know that it is an island that is very far from Colombia; we want to know more
about your culture and also many cultures of the world, which is why we decided to enroll in this
program. We want you to teach us everything you know about your culture and customs.

Now I will tell you about my country, which is very beautiful, our people who are hard-working and
humble, Colombia has many rivers, we also have paramos that produce fresh water.

I almost forgot a very important fact, I live in the city of Cucuta which has a very hot climate,
but don't worry, there are also many rivers and streams nearby to go for a walk with my family
and cool off in the water. If you like sunny beaches you can go to Cartagena and Santa Marta
which has the most beautiful beaches. Colombia, which is a multicultural country, has many
different festivities, for example; Barranquilla carnival, black and white carnivals, we also have
the Cali fairs and the flower fair, which is very beautiful.

We all await your arrival so that you can learn about our customs and we about your country and
thus promote cultural literacy, which is very important to get to know each other better.
