To Whom it May Concern:
I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation in support of Joseph Economico. I was
Joseph’s Supervisor for Student Teaching during the Spring 2022 semester at SUNY Cortland. I was
responsible for providing feedback and completing evaluations of his teaching performance as
well as assignments that were submitted during the semester. In this role, I observed Joe several
times in his placements at Brewster High School and at CV Starr Intermediate School in the
Brewster Central School District. These observations were done both in person and using videos
that were recorded and uploaded to an evaluation platform called Go React. After observing
Joe’s lessons, I provided written appraisals of his skills, lesson plans and assessments. In addition, I
hosted meetings every other week with Joe and his cooperating teachers to discuss his progress.
During his student teaching experience, Joe was respectful, reliable, professional, and
punctual. Joe presented himself as a good role model and made a positive impression on
students and staff alike. Joe was asked to reflect regularly on his successes and challenges and
then set goals for improvement. Joe reflected well and worked hard to meet the goals that he set
for himself. Joe’s written work was exemplary, and he consistently utilized feedback given to
improve his skills. Joe accommodated the diversity of the student population by creating all exit
slip assessments in both Spanish and English and by working hard every day to meet the needs of
all students. He participated in all required meetings and went above and beyond during the
semester to learn and grow as a professional. He used opportunities to observe other settings
such as Health classes and Personal Fitness classes at Brewster High School. On Friday mornings
before school, he volunteered to assist with workouts for the Brewster High School Girls Soccer
Team. While at CV Starr Intermediate School, he volunteered to help a co-teacher with the after
school intramural program. Appraisals related to this work were very positive.
Joe is an enthusiastic, confident young professional who is committed to delivering quality
Physical Education programs for his students. I am confident that he will continue to learn and
grow as a professional and make a difference in the field of Physical Education. Please do not
hesitate to contact me by phone or email should you need any further information.

Sincerely,
Margaret E. Robelee
