Question # 1: Define Magnetic Field?
Answer:
• The magnetic field is the area around a magnet in which the effect of magnetism is felt.
• A magnetic field is a vector field.
• Magnetic fields are produced by moving electric charges and the intrinsic magnetic
moments of elementary particles.
• The magnetic field B is defined in terms of force on moving charge.
• The SI unit for magnetic field is the Tesla.

Question # 2: State Biot-Savart Law and describe relation of Magnetic Field with other
parameters of the equation.

Answer:
Biot-Savart's law states that the magnetic field intensity dH produced at a point P, by the
differential current element idl is proportional to the product Idl and the sine of the angle α
between the element and the line joining P to the element and is inversely proportional to the
square of the distance R between P and the element.
Mathematically,
dH ∝ I dl sin α/R^2
The direction of dH can be determined by the righ-thand rule with the right-hand thumb
pointing in the direction of the current.
The Biot Savart Law is used to determine the magnetic field intensity B near a current carrying
conductor in terms of magnetic field intensity generated by its source current element
It is directly propotional to the differential current element idl and has and inveese relation
with the distance R.

Question # 3: State Ampere Circuit Law and describe relation of Magnetic Field with other
parameters of the equation.

Answer:
Ampere's circuit law states that the line integral of the tangential component of H around a
dosed path is the same as the net current Ienc enclosed by the path.

2|Page
Mathematically,
∮H ⋅dl= Ienc
(The circle on the integral means that this is an integral over an closed path)
Ampere's law is similar to Gauss's law and it is easily applied to determine H when the current
distribution is symmetrical.
Magnetostatic field is not conservative in amper’s law.
Here Magnetic Field is in a direct relation with current.
