Assignment: Hiring and Promotion

Why are hiring and promoting from within so popular in the hospitality industry?
Hiring and promoting from within has become more and more common in the hospitality
sector, in part because the human resources department is already familiar with the
candidate's work ethic and abilities, as well as how they fit into your company's culture
and vision. Internal recruiting and promotion for new positions results in time and cost
savings for the industry, increased employee morale, and a strong cultural fit.
Candidates for internal advancement who exhibit strong leadership, great
communication abilities, and a strong work ethic are excellent options.

What are the disadvantages of this strategy?

The disadvantages of hiring internally are:
First, there are only so many hours in a day, and many internal recruiters have other
responsibilities.
Secondly, internal resources rarely have the broad networks and established talent
relationships that external partners do. Internal resources also have a smaller talent
pool.
Lastly, recruiters may not have the knowledge to fill specialized tasks due to a lack of
ongoing training in their industry, depending on the organization.
