Film homework:

In LTROI, we are introduced to the female lead Eli, during the film
she is constantly looking down on a man who is clearly ‘older’ than
her, the man who is always at her side is seen as an object to Eli,
clearly showing she is the one with the greater power. In many films
females are shown as weak minded and no where near close to
being masculine, but with Eli, she fits both of those categories, she is
strong and over looked by the general public until they realise she is
not human, Eli also has the strength to take down a fully grown man,
enlightening the female audience, pleased to have some recognition
that they are stronger than people may think. In older movies such
as Rebel Without a Cause, the main female character Judy is shown
as a motherly figure who enjoys bright colours such as pink. Like
Judy, Eli wears lighter colours, showing her innocence from her
darker, more violent side. The main protagonist Oskar is presented
as weak, the opposite of what Eli is. Eli is symbolism of what Oskar
wishes he could be, which can be the reason why he ran away with
Eli. At the start, the audience will feel bad for Oskar because of his
loneliness due to being bullied, but once Oskar shows his violent side
the audience won’t know if they can decide whether they are rooting
for Oskar or the bullies because Oskar is shown as the villain in the
school trip scene.
