Subject: Formal Complaint and Response Letters with Social Media Component

I am writing this reflection regarding project 2, the Formal Complaint and Response Letters with
Social Media Component, to demonstrate my knowledge of analyzing an advertisement and
composing a formal complaint in the necessary documentation to professionally and maturely
speak out against social injustices.

I believe I achieved this purpose by creating a formal complaint letter where I have my format
equivalent to the letter example in our textbook with my fake information listed, and the
information to whom I am sending the letter. I then state the purpose of my letter within the first
couple of sentences which was about their ad. I then go on to give an explanation of the problem
and how it is offensive to the black community. I try to be understanding and then give a
suggested solution. I use a kind tone throughout my text that way respect is reciprocated. I then
create a response letter, again in the correct format with both the recipient and sender's
information. I then go on as the CEO to show my sincere apologies and understanding. I agree
and explain how we will take in the suggested solutions and how we will fix the problem. I also
created social media tweets as an example of a more unprofessional format and included images
and hashtags.

The audience for the first letter is supposed to be the CEO of Dove. That means I needed a
respectful and clear tone to present my thoughts and get the response I was looking for. The CEO
of a company holds a lot of power so it is important to have mutual respect. I myself was the
audience for the second letter. I put myself in a position and thought of how I would want to be
responded to in that scenario. I used words of understanding and tried to be empathetic to feel
important.
